WORKSHOP + DANCEFLOOR: TANGO AS DIALOG
with Ute Walter
Tango lives on the subtle communication between two dancing partners, who approach each other with respect and emotional openness. Attentiveness and sensitivity towards your own self and your partner are most important. Tango is all about being in the present, about trust and devotion.
In this workshop you’ll learn the basic rules from which all figures of tango can be derived in endless variations. After each step everything is possible, the path takes shape by the steps you take. Ute Walter will convey the communication principle of tango beyond inflexible role models, on the basis of a truly equal dialog. Tango is a social dance, which can be learned and performed by each and every one, no matter which age or clothing size.
Absolute beginners as well as experienced dancers are most welcome in this workshop. Afterwards there will be a queer tango dancefloor, where everyone is invited to dance.
Ute Walter is part to the first generation of European tango dancers with more than 25 years of teaching experience. She coined the term „queer tango“ in 2001 and, together with Marga Nagel, initiated the ever growing worldwide queer tango movement. She sucessfully runs her own tango school 'nuevas milongueras' in Hamburg and is working as an instructor nationwide as well as internationally.
